Homesteading and raising chickens can be an incredibly rewarding experience, but let's face it, we've all made our fair share of hilarious mistakes along the way. Whether you're a seasoned homesteader or just starting out, it's important to remember that mistakes happen, and they often make for the best learning experiences. In the spirit of embracing our mishaps, let's take a look at some common blunders that every homesteader makes at some point.

One of the most classic blunders that new homesteaders often find themselves in is underestimating the size of coop you will need. Chicken math is a real thing. What's the old saying about potato chips? You cannot have just one? Same goes for chickens. You start your flock with 4 hens and after 2 years go by you turn around and count 20. That initial coop you either built or bought is only big enough for half of your chickens! Point is that when you start this endevour, you should probably start with a coop that is 4-5 times the size you think you will need. Trust me on this, your back and your wallet will thank me. It's a humbling experience, to say the least. So here's to all the bumbling homesteaders out there - may your mistakes be plentiful and your spirits be light. Happy homesteading!
